Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

The University is in partnership with three Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers located at Suffolk & Norfolk, Billericay Teacher Training and Colchester Teacher Training Consortium.

Each provider offers both Primary and Secondary routes.  Most of the training is delivered in the classroom by experienced teachers, at long-established school centred providers.  Our ITT partners work in collaboration with schools located within Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk providing practical, hands-on training from experienced teachers.

On successful completion of the programme, trainees will receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), awarded and conferred by the ·¬ÇÑÓ°ÊÓ. This bespoke programme enables trainee teachers to gain their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which the chosen ITT provider would recommend on successful completion of the programme. The course usually runs for a year, however one of the providers offers a part-time route which would run for two years.
